    Job Summary

    • Workers are required to work in a lobster pound
    • Pack, weigh, grade product, label seafood for shipment order

    • Clean work area and equipment in the plant
    • Prior plant work experience is an asset but NOT necessary required

    Specific Skills

    • Transport raw materials, finished products and scrap materials through the plant
    • Drive forklift trucks to transport materials and well service equipment
    • Grade and label raw materials or finished products
    • Pack, weigh and stack bound and finished products on pallet for shipment

    Amos & Andy Fisheries Limited has an immediate opening for a dependable and full-time Forklift Operator/General Labourer to join their team. The ideal candidate must have the ability to multitask, accurately complete time sensitive duties and have a great attention to detail.

    LOCATION & HOURS OF OPERATION:

    • 48 Willow Rd, Sambro Head, Nova Scotia
    • The hours of operation will vary depending on production needs
    • Employees normally work Monday to Friday but may be asked to work the weekend on occasion

    STARTING RATE:                                                                                                         

    • $ 16.00 hourly, full-time, 40 hours plus a week

    DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Ensures the safe operation of a forklift within the seafood facility and on all company properties
    • Follows all company safety policies and procedures
    • Arranges tasks based on product perishability
    • Always sound horn on forklift before entering and exiting a building
    • Loads and unloads product in a safe and efficient manner
    • Moves product (raw materials and packaging) to and from vehicles or storage units
    • Reports any damaged materials to management immediately upon discovery
    • On-the-job training provided
    • Performs other duties as assigned

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Experience working within the fishing industry is an asset
    • Must have a reliable means of transportation
    • A valid full driver’s license is mandatory
    • Must be available during weekdays, evenings and weekends
