• The Business Development Program provides Nova Scotia businesses looking to increase their export capacity by providing financial incentives on projects that assist a business to grow current exports or participate in a global supply chain.

Offers two streams to support your business growth:
Stream 1: This stream supports the acquisition of a private-sector consultant to provide professional expertise to overcome a certain pain point keeping your business from growing.
Stream 2: Focused on senior executives,this stream will help you and your company identify and develop the leadership skills needed to grow. Work with business experts to understand and address how to overcome barriers to successfully scale your company and increase sales.

• The E-tools for Exporting Program (E for E) provides financial assistance to help SMEs improve export performance through digital tools.
• This program will cover a maximum of 80% of eligible costs.
• Stacking: you can combine money from this program with money from other government programs up to a total maximum of 90%.

The program covers specific activities provided by consultants or agencies such as:
o Website development
o E-commerce integration
o SEO, Digital ads
o Social media strategy

Eligibility 
• To be eligible for financial assistance through E for E, you must be an Atlantic-based SME that is currently exporting or planning to export.
• Eligible applicants must have generated revenue in the last year. Applicants must demonstrate that the proposed activity will improve export performance. Priority will be given to current exporters and to applications that clearly demonstrate how the activity will impact growth of international business to business sales.

• The CanExport funding program provides Canadian government grants to support export marketing projects including participation in trade shows and government-led trade missions.
• The program focuses on export marketing activities of existing products and services in foreign markets.
• In light of COVID-19, CanExport SMEs activities requiring travel are currently on hold. However, they are accepting new applications for CanExport SMEs.

How Funding Works
• CanExport SME provides funding on a cost-sharing basis with the recipient. The applicant may submit a maximum budget of $100,000; the minimum budget is set at $20,000.
• The program funds up to 75% of eligible costs for $15,000 to $75,000 in funding per project. The applicant is responsible for the remaining 25% (in-kind contributions are not permitted).

• The Trade Accelerator Program is an innovative initiative designed to accelerate the strategic development of your business and to better prepare you for an expansion into international markets.
• In addition to our in-class program, virtual formats are now available, depending on the region.
• TAP Virtual is delivered in 7-half day sessions held over several few weeks, concluding with a one-on-on mentoring session.
• The program is now open to applications from ALL Atlantic Provinces.

Program Cost
• The program fee for TAP is $5,000 per company. However, through the generous support of our sponsors, a bursary will be provided to you to lower the cost to $499 plus HST per company.
• Please note: Nominated companies who do not attend all seven (7) TAP sessions and complete an export plan prior to the One-on-One Mentoring Day will be charged the full program fee.

• The Halifax Partnership brings together all three levels of government, industry, post-secondary and community partners to create and cultivate the necessary relationships for business growth.

•The Europe Market Development Program (EMDP) is a powerful advisory and consultation program that is helping Atlantic Canada exporters expand their presence and grow sales in new industry sectors and countries in Europe.

Participation in EMDP provides personalized access to:
• Up to 20 days of one-on-one professional business development and in-market services, delivered by OCO Global
• Development of a tailor-made Strategic Market Entry Workplan including identification of pre-qualified connections to executive level decision-makers
• Dedicated services of in-market business development professionals to help drive sales generation and market development activities
• Coordinated access to existing federal and provincial export development resources and a network of export development officials

Qualifying for the EMDP
• Applicants should be experienced exporter companies currently selling outside of Atlantic Canada. They will be interviewed by export development officers and upon acceptance into the program will be required to pay a non-refundable participation fee of $4,750.00 CAD plus HST.

• The objectives of the Market Expansion and Export Readiness program is to encourage the agriculture, agri-food and seafood industries to expand their current established market share and foster economic growth through accessing new and emerging markets, building capacity to develop markets and expanding existing markets

Eligibility
An agri-business, agri-food processor, seafood distributor or agriculture industry association that:
• represents identifiable Nova Scotia agriculture and agri-food products
• generates an annual gross income of $30,000 or demonstrates not-for-profit status
• conducts value-added processing of a raw Nova Scotia agriculture product, with a direct partnership & significant economic impact to the primary agricultural industry
• can identify financial ability to complete the project
• a seafood distributor expanding in an international market
• must be export-ready and capable of servicing markets outside of Nova Scotia

• The Export Growth Program supports businesses looking to increase their export sales outside of Nova Scotia by providing financial incentives for projects that assist a business’s ability to overcome barriers to export growth.
• Contributes up to 50% of eligible costs to a max of $15,000 CAD per fiscal year.

•The Scotians Global Advisor program connects you and your business with a global network of advisors who are passionate about the success and growth of Nova Scotia. (There is no fee to participate in this program)

• Work with the Scotians’ Program Manager to better understand your current business challenges and barriers.
• Be matched and introduced to relevant global advisors who are ready to provide guidance, fresh perspectives, and insights across a variety of topics.

Eligibility:
• Be engaged or plan to engage in commercial activities outside of Nova Scotia;
• Have a fully developed exportable product, service, technology, or intellectual property that can be sold into a target market outside of Nova Scotia;
• Have an export plan (refer to the Scotians Program Guidelines for more detailed requirements).
